President's Message

As I said at our Annual UCRA Business Meeting this April, I'm not sure I'm the right person for this job, but here I am anyway. I was really hoping for a quiet year, but I suppose that's not to be. Right out of the box we're spending our time and energy responding to the Legislative issues facing us in the courtroom setting.

I also hope you will remember during this coming year the plea that I made during the business meeting. The UCRA board's role is to be watchmen at the tower. We need to be abreast of as many issues as we possibly can, as early as we can, so that we can be aware of upcoming difficulties and avert all impending crises that we have the power to avoid. The only way this is possible is if you all keep us informed. WE NEED YOU. I am only one person, and the board consists of merely nine. We can't keep our eyes on every possible target. Please help us to protect our profession. Keep us informed.

I never truly understood the value of my association dollars, both national and local, until I went to NCRA Boot Camp. There I realized that our board members spend a considerable amount of time guarding our profession so that we don't have to. They find opportunities and pursue them, and they foresee the dangers and begin fighting them even before we even know they may be there.

Your UCRA dollars have been spent to train leadership here in the state of Utah to respond to the obstacles we may face. You have seen that demonstrated in the efforts of our Past President Diane Flanagan and former NCRA Rep Laurie Shingle, as they have headed up our response to the actions government has taken in our arena this past year. We owe them our considerable gratitude. But the fight continues.

Please help us in any way you can.

Debbie Dibble President
